MAINTENANCE
You will forever be
my always
Value your bike and it will value your rides
You love your Jaegher. If you want that to last, spend time with it, and not only when you are riding.
If you ride like a Flandrien, you are not afraid of rain, snow or mud. But even on a Jaegher, moisture can find its way inside the frame.
Grease
Every frame that leaves our atelier is treated on the inside. When we deliver a complete bike, we also apply the right amount of grease at the contact points where oxidation starts: bottle cage bolt threads, head tube, headset, bottom bracket threads and shell, rear derailleur threads, brake bolts, seat post and the inside of the seat tube.
The inside of your frame is as important as the outside
Once a year, and twice a year is better, remove all the parts and reapply an anodic inhibitor to the inside of your frame. Spirit steel frames need this. Stainless XCr frames do not.
It is also the right moment to change your chain and reapply grease to all contact points. Wax keeps the paintwork in condition: it protects the finish and stops water from working its way into gaps where metal parts corrode.
If you ride a lot in the wet, remove your seat post once a month and turn the bike upside down for fifteen minutes, or until your next ride. Not in a humid room. Then grease the seat post and seat tube before putting it back. It is a sixty-second job.
But a great outside helps
Some Jaeghers are wet painted, which makes the colours more lively. Every Jaegher now gets an extra layer of clear coat: primer, colour, then clear coat on top.
We deliver your bike with small pots of paint, sometimes two: the primer, the colour or colours of your frame, and a pot of clear coat. Gravel thrown up by your wheel will chip paint sooner or later, and with those pots you can repair it yourself.
