Usual Gravel Setup
At Jaegher, we craft your gravel bike based on your preferences and strengths. Typically, gravel bikes are designed with a more upright posture than road bikes, prioritizing comfort. This setup makes it easier to navigate corners and obstacles while offering better visibility of the trail. Your arms act as shock absorbers, and it’s simpler to stand out of the saddle when needed.
Aerodynamic Gravel Position
That said, we often have customers who prioritize performance above all. Increasingly, riders are participating in competitions like Unbound Gravel, The Great Divide, Grinduro, Belgian Waffle Ride, Strada Bianchi and many many more, and their technical expertise drives them to choose a more aerodynamic position.
Take Tim Merlier with his Hurricane Sandstorm as an example. His lower, more aerodynamic posture lets him slice through the wind with ease on long stretches of beach.
When looking at the geometry of a Jaegher bike, known for their bespoke craftsmanship, comfort-oriented road racing geometry aligns beautifully with our tailored approach.
Here’s how a comfortable geometry could translate into the Jaegher philosophy. These are general insights, but some may not apply to you. If these insights don’t fully align with your preferences, we’ll explore other adjustments to create the ultimate bike for you.
A balanced head tube angle, keeps the handling responsive yet stable. This is ideal for riders who want precision on technical descents but still value comfort on long rides
While our aggressive/performance race frame geometry favor shorter head tubes, a custom comfort geometry would extend the head tube slightly to allow for a more upright, relaxed position. This relieves neck and shoulder tension on endurance rides.
Shorter top tubes bring the bars closer, reducing overextension. Combined with our bespoke fitting process, this ensures a natural reach for each rider’s proportions.
> Stack: Higher values to support a less aggressive posture.
> Reach: Moderate values tailored to avoid overstretching while maintaining efficient weight distribution.
Custom seat tube angles around provide an optimal balance for power delivery and comfort, depending on your hip flexibility and pedaling dynamics.
Chainstays typically range, which improves vibration absorption and keeps the bike stable, even on rougher roads.
With a slightly extended wheelbase, our bikes offer excellent high-speed stability while maintaining nimble handling characteristics.
A lower bottom bracket drop, typically around, ensures a more planted feel and lowers the center of gravity for improved stability and cornering confidence.
A fork rake of paired with a trail of balances comfort with precise steering—a hallmark of their race-oriented frames.
HOLISTIC BIKE FIT
Performance, comfort or both—your choice.
The geometry of your gravel bike significantly influences your posture—and your posture, in turn, shapes how the bike performs for you. Every rider is distinct, with unique body structures, physical strengths, and personal preferences. How can a one-size-fits-all approach possibly deliver the excellence you deserve?
IMPROVE YOUR PERFORMANCE
INCREASE YOUR COMFORT
IMPROVE YOUR ENDURANCE
For a gravel bike to truly excel, it must align perfectly with its motor: the rider. Bike and rider should function as one seamless entity. What’s the point of having a perfectly crafted bike if the motor isn’t performing at its peak? And what’s the point of a powerful motor if the bike doesn’t feel like an extension of the rider?
That’s why Jaegher is the first bike brand to introduce the Jaegher HOLISTIC BIKEFIT®.
Together with Lieven Maerschalk (*) and Gilles Van Kerckhove we’ve developed this approach.
This holistic method ensures that both you and your bike are in optimal harmony by taking a 360-degree approach to bike fitting. It’s not just about determining the perfect geometry, saddle height, or handlebar position—it's about understanding how your body moves and reacts to cycling. We assess factors like muscle imbalances, flexibility, and riding posture to determine the geometry and customize the fit to maximize your efficiency on the bike.
But the process doesn't end with the bike fit. Through a series of targeted, well-defined exercises, we address areas in need of strengthening or mobility improvement, helping you build a solid physical foundation for enhanced performance. By focusing on both the rider and the bike, this method unlocks a smoother, more powerful ride, optimizing each pedal stroke and supporting your long-term cycling goals—whether you're racing, exploring gravel roads, or enjoying long-distance rides.
With a focus on the whole rider, not just the bike, the Jaegher Holistic Bikefit Program elevates your cycling experience to its highest potential
The goal is to maximize every pedal stroke
while ensuring you remain free of discomfort or strain.
Some examples of exercises that can help you perform better:
- Enhance your balance and stability
- Achieve a more aerodynamic riding posture
- Increase core strength for improved stability and power transfer
- Improve hip flexibility for a smoother pedal stroke
- Improve proprioception and coordination for more efficient pedal mechanics
- Correct movement inefficiencies: f.e.a knee drifting outward with each pedal stroke, which can reduce power output.
In 2001, Maesschalck developed his own concept, Move To Cure, which literally translates to "Healing Through Proper Movement." Together with a team of physiotherapists, he specializes in treating complex orthopedic injuries. Often referred to as the "miracle man" (a nickname he dislikes), he works with the world's elite athletes. His clients include AC Milan, Real Madrid, the Belgian Red Devils, An Wauters, and cycling legends such as Remco Evenepoel, Wout van Aert, and Mathieu van der Poel.
NOTHING BEATS
STAINLESS STEEL
Unbeatable performance /comfort ratio
Stainless steel is an outstanding material for those seeking high performance. It offers the perfect balance between performance and comfort.
Stainless steel versus carbon and titanium.
Stainless steel is stiffer than titanium, yet more comfortable than carbon. For gravel riders, it’s particularly advantageous—virtually no risk of cracks, fractures, or breaking carbon. Plus, it’s immune to lasting damage from stone chips.
So, why don’t we see more people ride a stainless steel gravel bike?
It’s a question we hear often, and the answer is simple: while stainless steel is an exceptional and outstanding material for bespoke gravel and race cycles, it’s notoriously challenging to work with. Stainless steel is unforgiving—only the most skilled welders can master it, as every detail must be executed with absolute precision. Additionally, its hardness accelerates wear on machines, causing them to deteriorate up to five times faster than when working with other materials, making the crafting process even more demanding
Jaegher finest framesets, the FL.X series, are handcrafted out of exclusively for Jaegher made Columbus XCr tubes. All what’s great about cycling comes together in this timeless masterpiece. Stiffness meets responsive characteristics, meets outstanding vibration absorbing quality, meets lightweight, meets pure aesthetics.
This bespoke, handcrafted, and welded in a second to none geometry results in a frameset with maximum dynamic efficiency and an unbeatable performance-comfort ratio.
The unique feel of steel is difficult to translate into statistics and numbers. The weight/stiffness ratio of our FL.X frame is superior than titanium or aluminium while it’s vibration absorbing quality beats easily those from carbon or aluminum.
The frame — material and geometry — sets the standard for excellence in cycling.

Choose between exclusive colours and lacquer techniques
There’s nothing more striking than pure stainless steel, and it becomes even more breathtaking when paired with our special transparent varnishes or delicate layers of colour and gradient designs. No other material can achieve such a stunning, timeless look. Here’s a brief overview of the differences between the Phoenix and the Ascender, as well as their design possibilities.
Phoenix design
The Phoenix boasts a distinctive, recognizable design, available in five exclusive Jaegher gradients and golden eyes on the fork. For those seeking an added touch of individuality, a personalized call number is also possible.
Ascender design
> Pure and exceptionally tough
However, customization is still very much a part of the experience. In fact, 50% of our Ascender customers opt for one of our many ceramic coating colours to add a unique touch to their bike. While the majority of a Jaegher bike features brushed stainless steel, the logo, iconic Jaegher details, or your personal number are painted and oven-baked for a durable, long-lasting finish.
This ceramic coating is exceptionally tough, able to withstand scratches or stone impacts.
Some customers choose to extend the subtile colours they've selected for the frame with bold wet paint finishes or personalized designs to make the fork or cockpit a standout feature.
> The Fading Circles Design
Inspired by the circles of our logo, this innovative design adds colour to key areas: the seat post zone, dropout zone, bottom bracket, cockpit, and fork. It’s a fresh take on Jaegher’s signature style.
> The Speed Design
This unique design on a stainless steel frame uses wet lacquers to create a gradient effect, starting with your chosen colour at the front and transitioning to stainless steel towards the back. The logo or call number can be left unpainted, allowing the natural beauty of stainless steel to shine through.
In this design, 40% of the bike is coloured while 60% remains stainless steel, protected by a transparent lacquer. Achieving this effect requires precision and skill, including the use of transparent varnishes—but we’ll spare you the technical details.
Of course, you can add the Speed technique to the fork, combined with the Eye of Jaegher. Alternatively, you can opt for a fully coloured fork featuring the Eye for a bold and distinctive look.
